4 Effective Flea and Tick Medications for Dogs

After a long tiring day, being greeted by your beloved pooch who waits eagerly for you to come home from the moment you step out of the house is indeed precious. It’s no secret that dogs simply love their “hoomans” and their lives revolves around their owners. However, if you have noticed your energetic canine acting a little coy or uninterested in giving you sloppy kisses as you enter the house, then there’s something seriously wrong. If there’s a visible difference in your pet dog’s demeanor, check for minuscule black dots seeking solace in your pet’s fur or if there are any brown-colored many-legged creatures sticking to the dog’s skin for its life. If you find either of these creatures in your dog’s fur, your dog has a flea or tick infestation. Fleas are tiny creatures that live in the dog’s thick fur and suck on the poor animal’s blood for its survival, and ticks are similar pests that follow the same lifestyle. These common pests might look quite harmless, but if left untreated, they cause anemia or tick fever, which can ultimately lead to the animal’s death. So, ensure that you don’t wait around for the fleas or ticks to seek respite in your pooch’s fur.

Easy Food Substitutions for Low Cholesterol Meals

LDL and HDL are two types of lipoproteins comprised of fat and proteins. LDL stands for low-density lipoproteins and LDL cholesterol is considered the “bad” type of cholesterol because a buildup of this type of cholesterol can accumulate within the arteries leading to a heart attack or stroke. The benefit of HDL cholesterol, the “good” cholesterol, is that it absorbs cholesterol in the bloodstream and carries it back to the liver where it is broken down and carried out of the body. The good news is that with just a few simple food substitutions, you can effectively lower your LDL cholesterol levels and lead a healthier life. 1. Benefits of a healthy lifestyle Changing to positive lifestyle habits produces the desired outcome of LDL cholesterol reduction. As little as 60 minutes per week of aerobic exercise can boost good HDL levels and reduce bad LDL. Avoid trans fats because they can increase LDL levels. Also, avoid smoking and secondhand smoke because it lowers the HDL health benefits. An easy food substitution can include switching from ice cream bars to frozen yogurt or frozen fruit bars. 2. Benefits of olive oil, but buyer beware Olive oil is a healthy alternative to using butter.

Easy and Healthy Snacks for Kids

Kids are typically known as little snackers. They are more likely to choose a snack to enjoy rather than eating well balanced meals throughout the day. This can sometimes be an issue, especially when dealing with kids with a sweet tooth who much prefer sweeter snacks or kids who are picky and only want to enjoy things such as Cheetos! It can be difficult to get the proper nutrition into kids of all ages. That’s why providing healthy snacks for kids can help to get them a more balanced nutrition, even if they aren’t eating a well-rounded 3 meals a day: 1. Yogurt Yogurt can be a quick and easy snack option for kids! Especially when choosing Greek yogurt, this can provide a large amount of protein in the child’s diet. Dressing it up with different things such as seeds, like chia seeds or flax seeds, can even boost the nutrition level of yogurt! This is a great option for kids! 2. Celery and apples with nut butter If you’re picky eater won’t eat celery or apple slices alone, another way to make this treat healthy is to use apples cut into round slices so it can act as a “cracker” and putting peanut butter (or almond butter) on top.

5 Popular Snacks That are Harmful for Kids

We love to provide kids snacks that are healthy. Even the best of parents can mistakenly buy snacks that are harmful instead of healthy. Children tend to set their minds on what they like and don’t like to change. Sometimes we fall into a routine of habit foods that are quick and easy. Kids are picky eaters and parents tend to give in to their food preferences. You can provide healthy kids snacks with a little preparation ahead of time. You can even enlist the help of the child to pack the bags or boxes with healthy foods in order to avoid these rather unhealthy snack options 1. Energy bars They seem perfectly healthy for a natural snack, but beware of the labels that could tell another story. Some ingredients show excess sugar alcohols, palm oils, and more. If you can’t pronounce the ingredient, it’s probably not good for you. Some bars have more sugar than a candy bar. Do a little homework and find bars that have all types of seeds, honey, dark chocolate, raisins and different types of nuts. Choosing energy bars with the least amount of ingredients is a wise choice. Energy bars can give you energy, but it could be the sugar alcohols which are sugar in disguise 2.

Home Cleaning Hacks: Deep Cleaning Without Harsh Chemicals

When it comes to cleaning many of us rely on chemical cleaning products such as clorox, Lysol, and other anti-bacterial cleaners. While these products are great for cleaning and generally safe, they can get expensive to buy over and over again and can trigger allergies and headaches. If you want to ditch the harsh chemicals but still get a sufficient deep clean of your home then you should follow these hacks: 1. Lemon vodka disinfectant spray If you’ve decided to ditch the chemicals but still need a disinfectant, you will need to make your own natural disinfecting spray using lemon peels and some alcohol. To make this spray take a 16 oz spray bottle, add the peels of 2-3 lemons, fill the bottle with 1.5 cups of 120 proof or higher vodka (can substitute for 70% isopropyl alcohol), let lemon peels sit in the alcohol for 1-2 weeks to get the lemon oil from the peels, shake well and you’re good to go! When using it, spray it on surfaces and let it sit for a minute to disinfect before wiping it with a paper towel. 2. Baking soda on the carpet Next time you go to vacuum your carpet add a dash of baking soda to the carpet first, before vacuuming it.
